A hive mind is an emergent property of a group, a kind of group mind. It is the apparent sentience that arises from the behaviors of a group of individuals which share a certain interest or follow a particular object. Such a group can react faster and may have deeper knowledge than any individual. Followers in a social network can form a hive mind, which exhibits a certain form of collective intelligence or collective consciousness.
