Most of the x-computing techniques in this category are unconventional initiatives, techniques or visions to build new forms of computer systems which have the properties typical for many self-organizing systems in nature: for example fault-tolerant, flexible, robust and scalable computer systems. Many x-computing techniques are largely buzzwords, and some (like Ubiquitous Computing and Autonomic Computing) are still largely visions.
